The Esperanza Peace and Justice Center and Creative Director Azul Barrientos are hosting Todos Agua III, San Antonio's third annual water festival, from March 21 to March 28. The event aims to address Texas's intensifying drought, industrial expansion, and the resultant strain on rivers, aquifers, and communities. Throughout the week, the festival will bring together elders, activists, artists, and community members to discuss their relationship with water through conversations, reflections, art, and ancestral traditions. Initial discussions will delve into the history of Texas waters, from indigenous sustenance to current struggles over aquifers and environmental justice, featuring Juan Mancias, Tribal Chair of the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas. A significant part of the festival will include community members from the Data Center Action Coalition. This group is actively organizing against proposed data centers in San Marcos, integrating the concerns about industrial development's impact on water resources into the broader dialogue on water conservation and community well-being.
