Gov: Gallatin City Council, Gallatin Councilman Pascal Jouvence

The Gallatin City Council has approved the annexation of approximately 125 acres of land situated near the existing Meta data center campus. The newly incorporated property, located west of Brights Lane and south of Highway 31 East, will be added to the city's boundaries and Official Zoning Atlas, becoming part of City Council District 1. While no specific purpose for the annexed land was announced, Gallatin Councilman Pascal Jouvence suggested it would be ideal for a new data center expansion.

The annexation follows a recent proposal by Councilman Jouvence for a two-year moratorium on data center construction within Gallatin, citing concerns over unknown impacts of such facilities. The city council, however, deferred the vote on this proposed moratorium. The Meta campus is already one of Tennessee's largest data centers, covering over 900 acres.

Local residents have previously voiced complaints to WSMV4 regarding disruptions from the Meta facility's construction, including excessive noise and water runoff flooding their properties. Some residents also reported difficulties selling their homes due to prospective buyers' reluctance to live near the data center.
