The Texas Tribune has identified nearly 600 planned and operating data centers throughout the state, signaling an "unprecedented boom." Chris Essic, data visuals editor at The Texas Tribune, announced a new lookup tool to help Texans locate proposed and existing data centers near their addresses, cities, or zip codes.

The tool color-codes data centers as either planned or operating, with an option to view density in urban, suburban, or rural areas. Users can also adjust the radius to see data centers within 20, 50, or 100 miles. Larger circles on the map indicate higher megawatt capacity, signifying greater power consumption. The data reveals that many data centers are being constructed in rural areas, often outside city limits, where companies face fewer regulations.
