Wisner Township Moves Forward with Road Abandonment, Data Center Ordinance Work
The Wisner Township Board held a meeting where they adopted a resolution to abandon Brust Road and authorized work on an overlay ordinance, which pertains to data centers. Officials noted that the township's data center ordinance moratorium is set to expire in August.
The Wisner Township Board convened its July 20 meeting, presided over by Supervisor Tracy Freed, where members addressed several township matters. Key decisions included the unanimous adoption of Resolution 2026-8 to abandon Brust Road and the approval of a new early voting location at Fairgrove Township Hall.
Of particular note for development, the board authorized the hiring of the township attorney to begin drafting an overlay ordinance, based on a recommendation from the Planning Commission. Township officials also highlighted that the existing data center ordinance moratorium is scheduled to expire in August, with further actions expected to be discussed in a later Planning Commission report.
Other agenda items included rescheduling a discussion on Oakhurst Road abandonment, tabling a discussion with the Akron Fire Department, approving repairs for hail damage to a township building, and reviewing financial matters and upcoming conference attendance.
