Neighbors raise concerns about noisy data center in Loudoun

Residents in Ashburn and Sterling, Virginia, are experiencing significant noise pollution from a CloudHQ data center located along Loudoun County Parkway near Waxpool Road. The noise, described as a "loud drone," reached 90 decibels in measurements taken by NBC4 Washington, a level requiring ear protection for sustained exposure. Residents have reported hearing the hum up to five miles away, with some noting its intensity over the past weekend and observing black smoke emanating from the facility. Loudoun County spokesman confirmed that zoning enforcement is investigating a complaint. NBC4 also attempted to contact Amazon, whose involvement is implied, but received no response regarding the noise issue.
