Form Energy, a developer of iron-air battery systems, announced a significant agreement with Crusoe, a Colorado-based AI factory company, to support the energy needs of its artificial intelligence data centers. The deal, publicized during CERAWeek 2026 in Houston, entails the delivery of 12 gigawatt-hours of multi-day energy storage systems, with manufacturing commencing next year. This partnership provides Crusoe with guaranteed volume, pricing, and delivery terms for Form Energy's battery technology, crucial for scaling its AI infrastructure.
Mateo Jaramillo, co-founder and CEO of Form Energy, emphasized that the partnership will unlock new capacity for data centers, bolster domestic manufacturing, and deliver reliable power essential for the next generation of AI infrastructure. Cully Cavness, co-founder, president, and chief strategy officer at Crusoe, highlighted the agreement's role in securing energy infrastructure at scale and meeting the escalating demand for abundant, reliable power in the AI sector.
All the battery systems for this and other projects will be produced at Form Energy's Form Factory 1 in Weirton, West Virginia, which recently began full operations after completing its initial stages in September 2024. This agreement marks Form Energy's tenth publicly announced project, following a recent international deal with FuturEnergy Ireland. The companies assert that their collaboration will accelerate power delivery, strengthen American manufacturing, and position the U.S. as a leader in the AI-energy nexus.
