Neighbors oppose Google data center construction in Muskogee County
Residents near Google’s Project Scissortail data center campus in Muskogee County say construction has disrupted their peace and damaged local roads. The first of as many as four planned buildings is being built across a county road from nearby homes.
Google is constructing Project Scissortail, a data center campus on nearly 420 acres just south of Muskogee city limits in Muskogee County. The first planned building, measuring about 300,000 square feet, is being built directly across West Smith Ferry Road from residential properties.
Neighbors including Adam Cotten say construction has significantly disrupted their lives, while the road serving the site has developed potholes. The campus is part of two multibillion-dollar data center developments Google announced last year, with up to four buildings planned at the primary site.
