The upcoming zoning hearing for "Project Tango," a controversial 200-acre AI data center complex in Palm Beach County, Florida, has been delayed until July 15, 2026. Originally slated for April 23, the postponement was requested by the applicant's law firm, Carlton Fields, and handled administratively without requiring a new vote from county commissioners. The project, known as Central Park of Commerce Center, is a proposed hyperscale AI data center near the communities of Loxahatchee and Wellington. In December 2023, following hours of heated public comments from over 50 residents, county commissioners unanimously voted to postpone the application until April 2026 to allow for more impact studies. "Project Tango" was initially approved in 2016 as a regular data center. However, the developers sought an additional 64 acres for the facility and transitioned its designation to an AI data center, which necessitated a new vote and ignited significant community outrage and sustained protest against the expansion.
