Guilford County weighs a six-month timeout on data center projects
Guilford County commissioners are scheduled to consider a 180-day moratorium on new data center development applications and approvals. The proposed pause would give officials time to study public health, environmental and infrastructure impacts and develop regulations for future projects.
Guilford County commissioners are scheduled to consider a 180-day moratorium on data center development applications and approvals. If approved, the pause would remain in effect until April 12, 2027, while county officials assess potential effects on public health, the environment and land infrastructure.
The moratorium would also allow commissioners to consult outside experts and develop regulations for future data center projects. Davidson County is considering a similar pause, making Guilford County the latest Triad jurisdiction to weigh a temporary halt to development.
