Data center seeks zoning approval from Natrona County Commissioners
Prometheus Hyperscale data center sought zoning approval from Natrona County Commissioners to develop in an industrial park spanning the Natrona and Converse County line. Commissioners expressed concerns and noted public opposition, ultimately deciding to take no action at this time.
The Prometheus Hyperscale data center sought zoning approval from the Natrona County Commissioners for a project situated on the Natrona and Converse County line. The company's objective was to secure industrial park zoning, which could allow it to bypass specific state and county regulations.
During the Commissioners' meeting, Commissioner Dallas Laird voiced concerns about public sentiment, observing that a majority of the visible audience members (10 out of 15) opposed the data center. Commissioner Dave North suggested that more details were necessary before a decision could be made. Commissioners Coates and Nicolaysen indicated their preference for zoning that would enable closer examination of data center projects, rather than simply approving an industrial park designation. Consequently, the commissioners chose to postpone any decision on the matter.
