Geronimo Power asks Cass County residents to sign petition against data center moratorium
Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon urged Cass County residents to sign a petition opposing Harmony Township’s proposed 24-month moratorium on data centers and other developments. The township board is scheduled to consider the moratorium at a special meeting on Oct. 22, while Geronimo Power continues promoting its proposed Harmony Energy Park project.
Geronimo Power hosted a public forum at the Grand Farm Innovation Campus in Wheatland to present plans for Harmony Energy Park, a proposed data center development in Harmony Township. CEO Blake Nixon asked attendees to sign a petition opposing the township’s potential 24-month moratorium, arguing that it would halt the project before it could be fully considered and signal that the community is closed to development.
The company presented proposed benefits including property-value protections and $20 million in annual payments to nearby township residents and landowners once construction begins. The Harmony Township Board is scheduled to discuss the moratorium at meetings on Oct. 20 and Oct. 22, with the latter meeting specifically set to consider the proposed restriction.
