Residents of Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham, Alabama, are intensifying their fight against an incoming data center project associated with NVIDIA's AI. An amendment was recently added to their original lawsuit, aiming to halt construction.

According to Brianna Cook of WVTM 13 News, reporting live from Birmingham City Hall, the amended lawsuit, filed last week, implicates three additional companies. These companies are alleged to have played a role in property transactions that led to the AI project, specifically a series of rapid land sales in 2025 where the value of the land for the data center was allegedly inflated from $20 million to nearly $90 million within a single day.

Furthermore, the plaintiffs contend that due to the project's timeline, it should be subject to Birmingham’s existing data center moratorium, meaning it ought to adhere to the rules and restrictions currently in effect. As the legal battle unfolds, a rally is scheduled to take place outside Birmingham City Hall for those protesting against the data center development.
