Former Kentucky State Representative Charles Booker, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Mitch McConnell, has received the endorsement of several labor unions including every Kentucky chapter of the Communications Workers of America.
If elected, Booker says he would push for a moratorium on all data centers in the state until they can address concerns from workers who fear being replaced by artificial intelligence. His other policy priorities include guaranteeing a $40,000 minimum annual wage for full-time workers, Medicare for All, and abolishing ICE.
Booker is one of six Democrats running in the primary race. The other candidates include famed racehorse trainer Dale Romans, retired Marine aviator Amy McGrath, former Secret Service agent Logan Forsythe, Kentucky lawmaker Pamela Stevenson, and former CIA officer Joel Willett.
