State Schedules Hearing on Saline Township Data Center Discharge Permit
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has scheduled a virtual public hearing on October 21 for a proposed wastewater discharge permit for the Related Digital data center in Saline Township. This permit would allow treated wastewater from the facility to be discharged into the Saline River. The public hearing will include a presentation, Q&A, and an opportunity for formal comments.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) is set to host a virtual public hearing on October 21 regarding a proposed wastewater discharge permit for the Related Digital data center site in Saline Township, Washtenaw County. The hearing will address a draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, No. MI0060445, which would authorize the Related Digital Wastewater Treatment Plant, located on the north side of U.S. 12, to discharge treated wastewater into the Saline River.
EGLE's online event, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., will commence with a presentation on the draft permit, followed by a question-and-answer session. A formal public hearing will then allow residents to submit their comments for the official record. This proceeding follows an earlier public comment period, with all received comments to be considered before EGLE makes a decision on the application.

Individuals without internet access can join by phone, and written comments will also be accepted through October 23 via the MiEnviro portal.
