Community Benefits Agreement reached for Midtown data center
Terawatts reached a $15.7 million Community Benefits Agreement for its Midtown St. Louis data center, pledging jobs and tax revenue. The mayor plans to sign new data center regulations into law, though this specific project is not subject to them.
A developer, Terawatts, has secured a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) for its proposed $3.1 billion data center project in Midtown St. Louis, Missouri. The project involves constructing a new data center at the Goodwill Building site and renovating an armory into an office building. As part of the agreement, Terawatts has pledged a $15.7 million community benefits payment, with the first $9 million due by spring 2027. The project is expected to create over 1,000 construction jobs and approximately 100 permanent positions.
Consultants with Steadfast City also estimate substantial tax revenue, projecting $74 million in the first year of operation alone. Separately, the St. Louis Mayor's office plans to sign new data center regulations into law on Thursday morning. However, the current Terawatts data center project will not be subject to these new regulations.
