Data center super PAC jumped into the Kansas governor race
Building the Future, a pro-data-center super PAC, is spending $1.5 million to support Republican Kansas gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson. The group is promoting policies that encourage data center growth, while Democratic candidate Cindy Holscher has called for a statewide moratorium on new developments.
Building the Future, a political group backed by an artificial-intelligence nonprofit, has entered the Kansas governor’s race with a $1.5 million campaign supporting Republican candidate Ty Masterson. The spending follows the group’s earlier announcement of a multimillion-dollar advertising effort aimed at advancing policies favorable to data center development.
Masterson and Democratic candidate Cindy Holscher previously voted for a law providing sales-tax exemptions for data center investments. Holscher has since changed her position and called for a statewide moratorium on further data center development, setting up a policy contrast in the gubernatorial contest.
