Palm Beach County Zoning Commission recommends denial of controversial data center near Arden
The Palm Beach County Planning and Zoning Board unanimously recommended denial of Project Tango, a proposed hyperscale AI data center near the Arden community. This recommendation follows months of resident opposition citing health, safety, environmental, and noise concerns. The final decision will be made by the Palm Beach County Commission on July 15.
The Palm Beach County Planning and Zoning Board has unanimously recommended against the approval of Project Tango, a proposed hyperscale AI data center slated for construction near the Arden community and Saddle View Elementary School in western Palm Beach County. This decision, made after a nearly five-hour public hearing with over 100 attendees and more than 40 speakers, contradicts an earlier recommendation for approval by the county's planning staff.
Residents have voiced persistent concerns regarding the project's potential health, safety, environmental, and noise impacts, particularly a low-frequency hum. Developer Ernie Cox expressed disappointment with the board's recommendation but stated his intention to address the raised issues and strengthen his case before the Palm Beach County Commission. The commission is set to make the final determination on July 15, considering both the planning staff's and the Zoning Board's differing recommendations.
