PNK Group holds first virtual information session on Wisconsin Rapids Data Center
PNK Group held a virtual information session for its proposed 150 MW hyperscale data center in Wisconsin Rapids, detailing its three-phase development and power needs. The session followed a "heated" in-person meeting, and the company indicated openness to a public oversight committee as it seeks necessary permits.
PNK Group, the potential developer for a data center in Wisconsin Rapids, held its initial online information session for the community. This virtual meeting followed a "heated" in-person session earlier in the month, which included former New York City Mayor Eric Adams. During the online presentation, PNK Group detailed its three-phase development plan for the data center, which would have a maximum power draw of 150 MW, classifying it as a hyperscale facility.
The first phase is expected to include a substation and 50 MW of power, along with renovation of an existing building, with subsequent phases each adding another 50 MW. The company also addressed community questions during the session and expressed willingness to consider a public oversight committee to aid with compliance, if the city agreed.
While no specific construction start date has been confirmed, PNK Group aims to begin phase one next year. The company has scheduled three additional Zoom information sessions throughout the month to discuss topics such as water usage, noise impact, and a community benefit plan.
