Hudpeth County confirms: new $15B data center being built near Far East El Paso County
Hudspeth County officials confirmed that a proposed $15 billion data center is being developed in the Desert Haven community near far East El Paso County. County Judge Joanna Mackenzie said the project remains preliminary, while emphasizing the need to protect water resources and improve communication with local residents and government.
Hudspeth County officials confirmed that a $15 billion data center is planned for the Desert Haven community, about 15 miles from Homestead Meadows North in far East El Paso County. County Judge Joanna "JoJo" Mackenzie said organizations involved in the project, including ServerDomes Global, verified that the development is real after local rumors circulated.
Mackenzie said she visited the site and met with contractors and other project representatives, who acknowledged that communication with the county and community should have begun earlier. She described the project information as preliminary and said Hudspeth County's role is limited because the development would be on private property, although the county must ensure compliance with applicable laws, protect public infrastructure and resources, and provide residents an opportunity to be heard. She also testified before the Texas House Natural Resources Committee about protecting water resources and including rural communities in decisions affecting them.
