Gov: Posey County Area Plan Commission, Posey County Commissioners

The Posey County Area Plan Commission resumed a public hearing on Amazon’s proposed data center after an earlier meeting ran out of time. Dozens of residents attended the meeting wearing red shirts to protest the project, while an attorney representing Amazon Web Services said the company had made significant changes to its proposal and remained in the early stages of development.

The commission adopted a nearly 40-page ordinance addressing data center definitions, height, noise, setbacks, size and development plans. The rules would also require information about electricity and water use, construction and potential environmental impacts. The ordinance is a recommendation and will next go to the Posey County Commissioners for consideration.
