Meta has officially inaugurated its new AI data center in Temple, Texas, located on Industrial Boulevard. The facility, which commenced construction in 2022 and underwent a redesign in 2023, is now operational.

Representing an investment exceeding $1.2 billion upon completion, the campus features two buildings covering more than 760,000 square feet. Brad Davis, Meta’s director of global economic development, noted that the project created over 1,200 skilled trade jobs during peak construction and currently supports nearly 100 operations roles.

In addition to the data center, Meta announced a $400,000 grant at the opening, contributing to a total of $1.7 million in direct funding provided to Bell County-area schools and nonprofits. This includes support for mobile STEM and AI learning labs for students across Temple and Belton independent school districts, as well as programs at Temple College.

Meta also addressed environmental impact, stating that all energy consumed by the facility is matched with 100% clean and renewable energy, with 40 Meta-supported projects adding 9,000 megawatts of clean energy across Texas. The company has invested $8 million in local public water and wastewater infrastructure and is funding a regional water conservation project to return 5.2 million gallons of water annually to the local watershed by 2030.
