The approved guidelines include revised definitions for data centers and requirements for planning communication. They also mandate the use of closed-loop water cooling systems, ensuring adequate electrical capacity, and securing water and sewer supply for any proposed facility. Additionally, developers will be required to submit noise studies and light plans, as noted by Commissioner Doug Diedrichsen, who stated the goal is to categorize and properly review any future data center proposals.
These updates will be presented to the Minot City Council at its meeting on September 8 for further consideration.
