Maine Governor Janet Mills vetoed a bill that would have enacted a statewide moratorium on data centers larger than 20 megawatts. Mills stated that while a moratorium is appropriate, the bill failed to include an exemption for a specific data center project in Jay that has strong local support. She plans to establish a data center coordination council via executive order instead.
