Piedmont City Council possible vote on data center campus proposal
The Piedmont City Council is considering a vote on Cloverleaf's proposed data center campus after nearly five months of delays. The proposal would allow taller buildings and impose conditions on city water service, water usage, fire response funding and protections for residents' water supplies.
Piedmont City Council members are considering a decision on Cloverleaf's proposed data center campus, with the matter delayed for nearly five months. Reporter Rob Hagen said residents and Cloverleaf representatives attended the meeting, while police presence was visible outside and some residents questioned the transparency of the city council and administration.
The revised proposal would allow buildings up to 75 feet, compared with the 65-foot limit in the IT district. It would require the campus to use city water service, prohibit on-site wells, cap normal water consumption at 75,000 gallons per day, fund a water study and demonstrate that residents' water supplies would not be affected. Cloverleaf would also be required to fund a fire-response unit, including equipment and training. The meeting was framed as a vote on both the campus and the rules governing its development.
