Local attorney Scott Lloyd is making his case for the chairmanship of the Warren County Republican Committee ahead of an Aug. 5 revote, following a disputed election in February. Lloyd aims to expand party participation, improve voter turnout, strengthen conservative policy discussions, and restore trust within the local party. He successfully challenged the February outcome, which was set aside by the Sixth District Republican Committee and upheld by the Republican Party of Virginia, leading to the new election where voting will be a simpler register-vote-leave process overseen by the Sixth District Republican Committee.
Among his policy positions, Lloyd has repeatedly expressed strong opposition to the development of data centers in Warren County, arguing they are incompatible with the county's natural setting and tourism-based economy. He stated he has spoken against data centers before the Front Royal Town Council and the Warren County Planning Commission, and believes localities have the legal authority to ban or severely restrict them. While he supported a local Republican committee resolution opposing data centers, the measure ultimately failed. Lloyd emphasizes that the committee should take clear stances on local policy issues, including land-use decisions and tax policy, to hold elected officials accountable and align with conservative principles.
