The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) President and CEO John Osborne announced a purchase and sale agreement with CORVA Infrastructure Services for an AI data center in Lubbock, Texas. The data center is slated for a 100-acre site north of Loop 289 on Municipal Drive, within Lubbock city limits, and is expected to be operational by 2028.

Osborne clarified that the project, a non-hyperscale facility, will measure approximately 50,000 square feet, consume about 1,500 gallons of water daily, and reach a maximum electricity capacity of 27 megawatts, starting at 6 MW. He stressed that CORVA must adhere to all City of Lubbock regulations for the site, which has been zoned for light industrial use since 2010. The company is currently in its due diligence phase, including securing grid connectivity approvals from ERCOT, which is crucial for the project's continuation.

LEDA projects the data center will generate $23 million in net positive benefits for Lubbock and Lubbock County over ten years, including $300,000 annually for the hospital district in tax funds, and create 15 jobs with an average salary of $85,000. Osborne noted that LEDA has previously rejected larger, water-intensive hyperscale data center projects, underscoring their commitment to community concerns regarding resource usage.
