The data center developers argued against the denial, stating they had invested over $28 million into the project based on prior county indications that a data center could be built. They contended that new grounds for denial, such as a recently proposed moratorium by the County Council, should not be considered for their previously submitted application. However, county staff maintained that the initial denial was final and any new submission would be considered a new application, which would then be subject to the moratorium first read by the County Council on June 22. Representatives for White House Data Centers declined to comment on the ruling.
