Saline wants answers from EGLE on proposed data center wastewater permit
The City of Saline is requesting more information from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) regarding a proposed wastewater discharge permit. This permit would allow the Oracle Data Center in Saline Township to discharge treated sanitary wastewater into the Saline River. EGLE is currently accepting public comments on the proposed permit.

EGLE plans to issue a permit for an on-site wastewater treatment plant at the data center, which would discharge treated sanitary wastewater into the Saline River. The agency is currently soliciting comments and objections on this proposed permit, with a deadline of August 24th for submissions.
Saline Mayor Pro-tem Nicole Rice indicated that the city seeks further details from EGLE, citing the presence of a municipal treatment plant downstream. EGLE has stated that all comments will be factored into their final decision, and it remains undecided whether a public hearing will be conducted.
