Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has voiced strong opposition to a statewide moratorium on data center development, despite personally finding artificial intelligence (AI) to be "scary." In an interview with POLITICO Energy, Kemp characterized such moratoriums, like those enacted by New York's governor and proposed by former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, as "irresponsible."
The Governor advocated for local control, asserting that decisions regarding data center projects should be made by individual communities rather than through broad state-level bans.
