Community members, elected officials and nearby business owners gathered at San Diego City Hall to oppose a proposed 400-megawatt data center at the Navy’s NAVWAR site near the airport and the Midway District. Speakers said the project could increase noise and pollution, strain local resources and provide insufficient benefits to residents and small businesses.

The developer group is still examining multiple options for the site, and representatives said the proposal remains in its early stages with no negotiations or agreements in place. San Diego officials are also pursuing a moratorium on new data centers, with the measure expected to go before the City Council for consideration.
