Rumors of a data center project at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania, are being disputed by local officials and State Rep. Eric Davanzo, who confirm no proposals have been submitted. Despite the lack of concrete plans, a local environmental group, Protect PT, and a Change.org petition with over 1,500 signatures indicate significant community opposition and concern over potential impacts on infrastructure, energy, and water resources. The township already has an ordinance regulating data center development, and a state bill allowing municipalities to enact temporary moratoriums on data centers has passed the House and is now in the Senate.

Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania officials, including Commissioner Chairman Jeffrey Johnson, and State Rep. Eric Davanzo, are refuting circulating social media rumors that Cedarbrook Golf Course has been sold for a data center development. Johnson stated that no development proposals, zoning change requests, or information inquiries from developers have been submitted to the township for the golf course property or any other location.

Despite the official denials, public concern is high. An environmental nonprofit, Protect PT, has organized residents and encouraged attendance at an upcoming Rostraver Township commissioners meeting to voice concerns about potential impacts on local infrastructure, energy, and water resources. Additionally, an online Change.org petition advocating for a prohibition on data centers within the township has garnered over 1,500 signatures, urging officials to block future data center development.

Johnson clarified that Cedarbrook Golf Course is not currently zoned for data centers under the township's Ordinance No. 781, adopted in October 2025, which regulates data center land use. Any developer would first need to seek a zoning map amendment, a process that involves review by multiple planning agencies, public notice, and a public hearing before the Board of Commissioners. State Rep. Davanzo also highlighted the progress of House Bill 2496, which would enable municipalities to adopt temporary 180-day moratoriums on data center proposals, after passing the Pennsylvania House and advancing to the Senate for further consideration.
