The Northfield Planning Commission is set to conduct a public hearing to consider a proposed zoning amendment concerning data processing facilities. The amendment seeks to drastically reduce the required setback for data centers from existing or planned parks and trails, shortening the distance from 3,950 feet to 200 feet. Despite this consideration, Northfield city officials have stated that no data center projects are currently awaiting approval.
In unrelated news, Alyssa Melby has declared her candidacy as a write-in for the Northfield School Board. She aims to fill an anticipated vacancy on the board.
