Texas House candidate James Frank opposes Google data center near Wichita Falls
Texas Rep. James Frank said he opposes a planned Google data center in Archer County near Wichita Falls because of its proximity to homes. He supports the proposed Skybox data center at the Wichita Falls Business Park and favors state rules requiring closed-loop water systems, limiting tax abatements and restricting data centers near residences.
Texas Rep. James Frank, a Republican seeking reelection in House District 69, said he opposes Google’s planned data center in Archer County outside Wichita Falls because the proposed site near Three-Way Road is too close to homes. He supports the Skybox data center proposed for the Wichita Falls Business Park, where he said local officials and many residents favor data center development.
Frank said data centers should follow strict “good neighbor” standards, including limits on water use, tax abatements and siting near homes. He also said he expects the Texas Legislature to consider requirements for closed-loop cooling systems, limits on data center tax incentives and tighter location restrictions during its next session.
