Water consumption has emerged as a key concern for potential data center projects. Mayor Lee suggested that Mason City could supply treated wastewater or gray water, with the developing company responsible for the necessary infrastructure. Additionally, community members have expressed opposition regarding potential environmental impacts, a decrease in neighboring property values, and noise pollution.
Despite these reservations, Mayor Lee highlighted the potential economic advantages a data center could bring, such as increased revenue that might lead to lower property taxes, enhanced city services, and future investments.
