The demand for electricians is on the rise as Artificial Intelligence (AI) transforms the job market, shifting focus towards power-intensive infrastructure. According to a report from April D. Lee at the Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls Press, the trade offers substantial wages, paid training, and work that requires essential human skills.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported a median annual wage of $62,350 for electricians in May 2024, with top earners exceeding $106,030. The BLS also projects a 9% job growth from 2024 to 2034, equating to approximately 81,000 openings each year. This growth is largely attributed to the digital world's reliance on physical systems, including data centers, renewable energy installations, EV chargers, and various commercial and residential buildings, all requiring skilled electrical work.
