Doug Jones warns Alabama could become a 'dumping ground' for AI data centers

Speaking Monday in Birmingham, Doug Jones, the Democratic nominee for governor, argued that his opponent Sen. Tommy Tuberville is prioritizing powerful interests over everyday Alabamians while backing rapid expansion of AI data centers across the state. "In 2026, we're witnessing perhaps the greatest example of what is wrong with state government in Alabama and how big money works in our state," Jones said. "I'm talking about the current high speed, no holds barred effort to make Alabama a dumping ground for big AI data centers for rich billionaires."
