Anne Arundel County extends data center moratorium to 2028
The Anne Arundel County Council unanimously extended its moratorium on new data center development through the end of January 2028. Data center projects already underway may continue, while similar moratoriums remain in effect in several nearby jurisdictions.
The Anne Arundel County Council unanimously extended the county’s ban on new data center development through January 2028. The moratorium does not apply to projects already in progress, which can continue as planned.
The report said data center restrictions are also in place elsewhere in the region. Baltimore County’s moratorium runs through the end of 2027, Baltimore City’s temporary ban lasts through June 2027, Howard County’s pause extends through November 2027, and Carroll County’s ban also runs through 2027.
