Crow Holdings data center may spell end for Dallas' Market Hall building
Dallas developer Crow Holdings has proposed a 245-megawatt, multi-building data center development on a 40-acre site in Dallas, which may result in the demolition of the historic Market Hall building. The company has made zoning requests and is proceeding with design work for the initial phase of the campus.

The proposed development is situated on parcels that include the historic Market Hall building, which appears to be ceasing operations, with its last scheduled event this weekend. Market Hall officials and city zoning records confirm the building's location within the planned data center site.
Crow Holdings first announced the project in January but is now providing a more precise location. While the company declined to comment on Market Hall's potential demolition or repurposing, Dallas Market Center spokesperson Cole Daugherty stated that redevelopment options have been explored for 15 years, and wholesale trade events were moved from Market Hall to core Dallas Market Center buildings over the past year. No demolition permits have been filed as of Tuesday, but Crow Holdings representatives requested zoning verification and determination letters for multiple parcels, including the Market Hall site, and an address change for the first phase, a five-story, 70-megawatt building.
The project will be developed by Crow Holdings in partnership with CleanArc Data Centers, which will manage leasing. The site is highlighted for its strategic proximity to major network interconnection hubs. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is currently ranked as the top primary data center market globally, with over 10 gigawatts of planned capacity.
