The Ohio Power Siting Board has scheduled public hearings for two proposed natural gas power plants in Ohio. One plant, the Fairfield Energy Center, would be in Millersport, Fairfield County, and the other, the PowerConneX Ashville Energy Center, in Ashville, Pickaway County. Both facilities are intended to power adjacent or co-located data centers.
The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) has announced dates for local public hearings concerning two proposed natural gas-fired power plants, both intended to supply electricity to nearby data centers. These hearings will allow individuals to provide sworn testimony for the official case record.
One proposed facility, the Fairfield Energy Center, is planned for 100 acres within the Village of Millersport in Fairfield County. This plant is designed to provide up to 1,300 megawatts of generating capacity, complemented by up to 1,000 megawatts of battery energy storage, for an adjacent data center. The public hearing for this project is set for August 17 at Millersport Junior/Senior High School.
The second project, the PowerConneX Ashville Energy Center, would be located on approximately 110 acres in Ashville, Pickaway County. It is proposed to have a maximum generating capacity of 800 megawatts, also to power a co-located data center. Its public hearing is scheduled for August 19, 2026, at Teays Valley High School in Ashville. The article notes additional information for both projects is available on the OPSB website.
