The Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce hosted an Energy, Industry & Workforce Energy Conference at the Bob Bowers Civic Center, featuring speakers including Christopher Guith of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute and Dan Romito of Opportune LLP. Discussions covered U.S. energy production, liquefied natural gas exports, permitting delays and workforce development.

Guith and Romito described data centers as increasingly important to the AI economy and national power, while warning that the sector will require major additions to electricity-generation and grid capacity. The conference addressed data centers as a broad industry issue rather than announcing a specific project in the Port Arthur area.
