Sabey Data Centers celebrated a "Going Vertical" ceremony on July 15 at its SDC Umatilla campus in Northeast Oregon, marking a significant construction milestone for the multi-tenant data center project. The event brought together state and local officials, utility partners, contractors, and company leadership to commemorate the erection of the first structural steel.
The campus, situated in Oregon's Columbia Cloud Corridor, is designed to provide scalable data center capacity for hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation customers, addressing the growing demand for cloud computing and AI infrastructure. Tim Mirick, president of Sabey Data Centers, expressed excitement about the development and the company's commitment to the community.
Oregon State Rep. Bobby Levy noted the project's significant investment in Northeast Oregon and highlighted its planned closed-loop cooling system as an example of balancing technological advancement with responsible resource management. TJ Hofheimer, managing director at National Real Estate Advisors, emphasized the collaboration with local leaders and stakeholders, aligning with the firm's long-term investment strategy. The project is expected to generate numerous construction jobs and support local businesses.
