The city of Cleveland, Ohio, is hosting the first of three public hearings to discuss data centers and their potential impact on the city. The initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Collinwood Rec Center. Earlier this year, Cleveland City Council members implemented a three-month moratorium on issuing permits for data center developments.
One specific project under consideration is a proposed hyperscale data center by Westlake-based Lakeland Equity Group. This facility, planned for the former Morabito Enterprises property on East 55th Street, would span 300,000 square feet over two stories. It is projected to consume 150 megawatts of power daily, enough to supply approximately 100,000 homes, and would necessitate new connections for water, sewer, and electricity. Additional hearings are set for September 29 at Cleveland City Hall and October 7 at the Gunning Rec Center.
