
Residents seek answers, safeguards at Mason City data center meeting

Approximately 100 residents attended an informational meeting at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City about the potential effects of data centers on local communities. The event was hosted by the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund and featured keynote speaker Simon Rosenblum-Larson.
Organizers distributed yard signs, bumper stickers and other materials supporting opposition to data center construction. Residents sought information about who would benefit from a potential project, what impacts it could have and how much influence the community would have before development moves forward.
