Albuquerque Officials Impersonated in Data Center Project Comments
Two Albuquerque elected officials reported that someone used their identities and official email addresses to submit fake public comments supporting a controversial data center project in southern New Mexico, known as Project Jupiter. Separately, the Bernalillo County Commission is considering significant zoning changes for the industrial Mountain View community outside Albuquerque city limits.
Albuquerque, New Mexico – Two Albuquerque elected officials, Democratic State Representative Cristina Parajón and City Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn, revealed that an unknown individual impersonated them by submitting fraudulent public comments in support of a controversial data center project named Project Jupiter. The impersonator used their names and official legislative email addresses on July 4th, leading to constituents notifying Councilor Fiebelkorn of comments she had never submitted.
In related local developments, the Bernalillo County Commission is evaluating major zoning changes for the Mountain View community, an 8,400-acre industrial area bordering Albuquerque city limits. Residents in this area, located between I-25 and the Rio Grande, have experienced high tensions due to consistent noise pollution. County leaders are proposing a new sector plan with the aim of fostering more multi-use developments. Commissioners are expected to revisit this Sector Plan in September. While Project Jupiter is located in southern New Mexico, the impersonation incident directly involves Albuquerque officials, tying the events to the city and Bernalillo County.
