Springdale residents are planning a protest against a proposed data center development in their borough. Although borough officials approved the project's conditional use last year, residents are developing legal strategies to halt the project during upcoming land division hearings.

Springdale residents are organizing a protest against a proposed data center development slated for the former Cheswick Generating Station site. The protest is scheduled for Saturday morning near From Italy Pizza, a regular meeting spot for residents opposing the project.

Tom Bailey, an organizer, stated the group aims to resist the project, which borough officials approved last year despite initial community opposition during the conditional-use process. Officials cited concerns about potential legal challenges if they denied the project. Former borough councilwoman Toni Robbins is also involved, highlighting the group's efforts to develop legal strategies for intervention in the upcoming land division hearings.

This protest follows several similar gatherings last year near the proposed site and the Springdale borough building. Organizers hope to engage more residents, stressing that they do not consider the project a "done deal" and intend to continue their efforts to halt its development.
