Over 200 residents and leaders from the Tonawanda Seneca Nation packed a public hearing in Alabama, New York, to voice overwhelming opposition to the proposed $19.5 billion Project Double Reed data center by Stream Data Centers. Speakers urged the Genesee County Economic Development Center to reject the project and its requested tax incentives.

More than 200 people attended a five-hour public hearing at the Alabama Fire Hall on Thursday night, expressing overwhelming opposition to the proposed $19.5 billion Project Double Reed data center, also identified as a STREAM U.S. Data Centers project.
Chief Scott Logan of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, alongside area residents like Gary Ciurczak of Buffalo and Jennifer Durham of Alabama, criticized the proposal. They urged the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) to reject both the project and its associated tax incentives. Chris Suozzi, GCEDC executive vice president of business & workforce development, was also present and spoke to the crowd. Melissa Smith from the Tonawanda Reservation was another speaker who held a sign expressing opposition at the event.
